Free Fire World Series Experiences Drop in Viewership

The Free Fire World Series 2022 Bangkok has recorded a significant viewership drop in comparison to their global event, Free Fire World Series 2022 Sentosa, that took place back in May of this year.

Free Fire is a competitive mobile battle royale game developed by the Singapore-based studio Garena.

The Free Fire World Series, which took place twice this year, garnered a peak viewership of 354,836, which is a significant drop from the 1.47 million numbers clocked at the Free World Series 2022 Sentosa in May 2022, according to Esports Charts.

KONAMI Unveils Coppa eFootball Italia

Japanese video game company KONAMI has officially announced the Coppa eFootball Italia tournament which will be a new fan-focused esports competition that will feature seven Italian futbol clubs.

This new tournament will be the catalyst for an integration of eFootball’s partner clubs, their youth players, professional esports players and the team’s fans, and really hones in on a presence in the sports content creators market.

The seven football clubs taking part in Coppa eFootball Italia are AC Milan, AC Monza, AS Roma, Atalanta BC, FC Internazionale Milano, SS Lazio and SSC Napoli, with each bein represented by three different players: selected youth team players; esports professionals; and fans that will be chosen from a special qualification tournament entitled KONAMICI.

Coppa eFootball Italia will conclude with an offline Grand Finals weekend, hosted at Napoli COMICON on the last weekend of April 2023 with the winning club taking home an unspecifed grand price, which includes a special eFootball multi-media and gaming center that will be installed at its youth training complex.

YouTube will be utilized for the tournament, with Coppa eFootball Italia set to be featured prominently on eFootball’s YouTube channel.

It shows the continued hard work of KONAMI in it’s rebrand of it’s futbol simulation title, which donned the new name of eFootball from PES, and now as they look to dive further in the content creator market, they are likely building a trigger for influencer marketing impacts as well.

Riot Games Announces Expansion of LEC

Riot Games has officially announced the expansion of its League of Legends European Championship (LEC) to include esports teams and esports players from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Turkey.

The changes are expected to take place in 2023.

Riot commented on the LoL EMEA official website by saying that the format is a “pilot program as LoL Esports considers broader changes to the competitive calendar and season structure in 2024.”

“We want EMEA to be a region that brings fans together across multiple continents, competing for regional pride and international success,” Riot’s website says.

“With this change, we’re creating pathways for players to reach the pinnacle of League of Legends esports in the region and opportunities to unite fans across EMEA to cheer for the teams they love.
