Bad Bunny Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Moving Towards Settlement

The lawsuit that was filed in 2021 by AOM Music, Inc. that claims “Safaera” contained music from DJ Playero’s Playero mixtapes—specifically referencing “Besa Tu Cuerpo,” “Choca con Bicho,” and “Sigan Bailando” is heading towards a settlement.

Omar Merced, who is behind the lawsuit, has reportedly reached a preliminary “settlement in principle” with Bad Bunny and his collaborators on the “Safaera” track during a recent mediation session, according to Pitchfork.

An original draft of that settlement will now go through a rigorous review process with multiple corporate and individual parties, and with the conclusion of mediation a federal judge in California has suspended hearings for the case.

However, if a formal dismissal of the case isn’t filed by February 17th, then parties must report on the settlement process.

Warner Music Group ‘Taps Into the Explosive Spanish Language Market’ Via Gibson-Sponsored Prime Video Series

Warner Music Group is gearing up to bring a Spanish-language 13-episode musical series to Prime Video in February which will be sponsored by Gibson and will star two Warner Music Latina artists.

According to an official release, Warner Music Latina artist Yas Gagliardi is starring as the titular character of the “coming-of-age, young adult dramedy” with Melody co-creator Sarah Lenore joining the Argentina native as Layla.

The series was shot in Miami, Florida and Buenos Aires.

The project is being billed as a “cross collaboration” between Warner Chappell Music (WCM), Warner Music Latina, Warner Music Entertainment, and Buenos Aires’ Trinity Entertainment and the series will feature music crafted by WCM’s Jose Luis Pagan.

Flo Rida Awarded Close To $83 Million by Florida Jury in Breach-Of-Contract Suit

Hip hop superstar Flo Rida has been awarded close to $83 million by a Florida jury in his breach of contract lawsuit against energy drink Celsius who were found to have withheld payments to Flo Rida as part of the 2014 contract and improperly concealed related information, per reports.

Celsius allegedly “failed to notify” Flo Rida when the sales targets ($1 million in co-branded gross revenue during a 12-month period) were officially hit and allegedly decided not to pay “additional royalties” and stock options that were triggered by hitting certain sales benchmarks.

Additionally Flo Rida claimed, via a contract from 2016, to be owed a piece of the stateside income from “certain company products,” including cases of the drink’s Sparkling Orange variety and boxes of “powdered sticks.
